The Countdown!

Can you believe it is SO close to Mrs. International 2015?! The time has flown by and thank you all for continuing to join the journey!

While the countdown continues, here are some tips and tricks! Remember International Pageants is on YouTube as well!

Preparing for Mrs. International in the Final Months

Time will fly these next few months and before you know it we will be at orientation finally meeting everyone in person (which I am really looking forward to meeting ALL of you face to face!!!). From the moment you arrive to the minute someone is crowned Mrs. International 2015 (and the following week Miss Teen International 2015 and Miss International 2015), you will blink and it will be over. For one of you, the journey once you are crowned will be even quicker.

Thorough Preparation is critical for these 3 reasons:
  • Being as effective of a queen as possible for your platform and the International Pageant system
  • Confidence building. It is amazing knowing everything that is set in place (while still being flexible to change, let’s face it, while having a plan is critical, the more critical component is being adaptable). It’s astounding how an organized checklist can clear our mind to stay focused and effective! I am a HUGE list person, a must for daily life in our world.
  • We are on the GO when in Jacksonville and rest is a must. When you show up prepared, when we do have downtime, you can rest with ease instead of doing last minute tasks.
Here is a checklist I used both years for competing that you may find useful, but I would encourage you to make your own also, as no two queens are the same.

The Final Leg - Behind the scenes Journey post 3

Greetings friends! Today was orientation day when we get to meet everyone.  The energy in the room was amazing and I it is wonderful to finally meet everyone we have been rooting for through social media. Let the 2014 International Pageants sisterhood begin :)

The one and ONLY Suzy Bootz. If only I could bottle up her wisdom :) She has been a great coach to work with.

Hair and makeup prep with Standout Salon...they are so nice and AMAZING!
My roommate!! Mrs. Arkansas International 2014 Dana Wessel. She is SO sweet and passionate about her cause of mentoring.

International Pageants really takes care of it's contestants. Our gift bags at orientation are lovely, so excited to proudly wear all of the gear!

Tomorrow is action packed with a tour of the amazing city of Jacksonville and even Jaguars stadium. This city has been very welcoming, I am excited to get out and greet the citizens!

Our first rehearsel is also tomorrow, so the daily journey blog will be later. Hope your are up to enjoy in the excitement.

Warmly,
  Maggi

The Final Leg - Behind the scenes Journey post 1

After over 1,300 miles and 37 hours of travel, Jacksonville is my destination as Mrs. International 2014 kicks off.  I am beyond excited to be here for Soles4Souls and was able to make a stop at their Headquarters on the way here to drop off more shoes from people committed to Give Shoes and Give Love. This week is going to be alot of fun and new friends, here are a few pictures from the journey here and more to come daily as the week goes on!
Thank you for joining my family and Soles4Souls on this journey to wear out poverty!
Warmly,

Our family gathering together before the long drive, my Team :)

Our car in the process of being loaded. Soles4Souls travel bad in tow of course :)

Road trip necessities
The car was so packed, we had to zip tie the clothing rod!

My perfect plate never leaves my side! Awesome way to live healthy

Soles4Souls HQ with Outreach Director Tiffany Johnson after delivering some shoes

2am arrival, but still full of energy. How can I not be :)

It is so handy to bring my own clothing rack so my roommate can take over the closet :)

Bedside must haves! Don't leave home without them

My husband made me this sweet sign as a pledge to our marriage. He is one amazing leader and husband!

To say I like to be organized is quite possibly an understate. I prefer prepared:) Every night when I go to bed, sweet notes and photo reminders of why I am here for Soles4Souls will sit over my head.

The Omni staff accicentally came knocking to my door thinking I was someone else and as a "oops, thanks for being understanding" , they sent me a sweet, sweet note and fresh fruit! What AMAZING hotel service.

A re-cap of the daily #Countdown #ByTheNumbers :)

Why the International Pageant has Heart

Besides the International Pageant system's commitment to celebrating women's accomplishments, I love that they have had such a strong alliance with the American Heart Association Go Red for Women movement. They help to fulfill the goal of bringing awareness that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women of women.

Last Friday, February 7th was the official American Heart Association "Go Red" Day. International Pageant titleholders from all over the world went red in a BIG way! I could not be more proud to be part of such a wonderful system with so many women who are beautiful on the outside, inside and willing to be strong voices to help others.

To find out more about what the International Pageant titleholders did to "Go Red", visit and make sure to Like their official facebook page!

I was also blown away when Soles4Souls rose to the occasion in a BIG way by having their International Headquarters "Go Red"

So how did I "Go Red"?
Thursday night we started off with Lincoln's 3rd annual Red Dress Dash and the Governor of Nebraska Dave Heineman declaring a proclomation Friday Feb.7th the official "Wear Red" day
The news interview is here: Runners wear red for heart disease - KLKN TV

My picture with the Governor made the National AHA Go Red website!

A goal of the American Heart Association is to raise awareness with grassroots efforts and as the AHA Lincoln Passion Committee Co-Chair I pitched the idea to our local office to run for 10 hours in honor of the 10th anniversary of the "Go Red" Movement and away I went last friday starting at 6am.
I started out at 10/11 news, stopped by to see the wonderful physicians of Nebraska Heart Institute and made a few more quick stops to help others "Go Red". A collage is below of the day :)

Full news coverage can be found here:

Finally...here is one of the heart survivors in our family and one of the reason I got involved last year to help our family be heart healthy and know all of the facts. To find out more about how YOU can "Go Red", visit the AHA Go Red website https://www.goredforwomen.org/

Here is to being a healthy you:)
